Looking for “Expert” to Fill “Intern” Position?

I happened upon this verbiage in a classified ad in Craigslist this morning.

“Exciting Intern opportunity for experienced front-end web developer & SEO/SEM expert.”

Websters defines the term Intern as follows:

“an advanced student or graduate usually in a professional field (as medicine or teaching) gaining supervised practical experience (as in a hospital or classroom)”

Websters defines Oxymoron as follows:

a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (as cruel kindness); broadly : something (as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements”

So it sort of sounds like this company is looking for an experienced expert to fill a kind of  trainee position.  Are they are looking to get their work done without paying a fair wage in return?

The sad thing is Craigslist is full of ads similar to this one.  Perhaps if companies were willing to pay for expertise they need, our unemployment rate might come back down a bit.
